Listed in the 1901 Census of Lesmahagow 649 1 3 006 as a 33 year old Farm Bonecrusher living at No.7 Boghead, Blackwood, Lesmaghagow, Lanarkshire with his 34 year old wife Jessie and their children James age 10, William age 8 and Andrew age 4.

3.  WILLIAM BROWNLEE3 DINNIE (JAMES2, JAMES1) was born 27 November 1893 in Crossford, Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, and died 8 April 1971 in Leith, Edinburgh.  He married JEAN ADAMS HAWTHORNE 29 August 1917 in St Andrews, Edinburgh, daughter of JAMES HAWTHORNE and JANE ADAMS.  She was born 13 July 1894 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, and died 21 April 1981 in Corstorphine, Edinburgh.

 

Notes for WILLIAM BROWNLEE DINNIE:

Enlisted in the Arglye & Sutherland Highlanders on 6th December 1915.

Also served in the Yorkshire Regiment and the Durham Light Infantry, then in the Royal Defence Corps and was discharged to the Army Reserve on 6th March 1919.
