Chad Ullom from Topeka, Kansas, USA bravely stepped up to attempt to carry the Steens at The 2017 Gathering. Chad has a lifelong love of the Steens and carries a tattoo of the boulders on his leg. Chad is also a prominent figure in the International All Round Weightlifting Association (IAWA & USAWA) holding a number of World records. Chad started off strong to enthusiastic applause and encouragement from the huge crowd and his stone lifting brothers and made a great attempt covering approx. 2/3 of the distance before the Steens got the better of him. A truly valiant attempt!
Chad also managed a 2ft strap assisted walk with the Dinnie Stones at the 2013 IHGF Stones of Strength Competition
